It's an Age-Old "Story"- People Learn Through Stories!

Manalapan High school Students are engaged in a project with the Township Community called: The VIA Project- Community Outreach VIA Digital Story (VIA=Video Increases Awareness).  They will be creating digital stories & vodcasts covering a broad range of topics. Here’s where the community comes in- Township Community Leaders will help identify what those topics

should be…public service announcements about recycling and other environmental issues, voting, important events, etc. One topi of particular interest to the community is intergenerational history- Interviews with older residents about how Manalapan “used to be” should prove very interesting. There are a multitude of residents who have lived in Manalapan for 50-60 years, and first person narratives are very valuable teaching tools. The finished products will be featured on the township website, as well as on our school’s and district’s websites. We will also have the materials archived & represented at the town/county headquarters libraries to further increase the community component of the project.

Our vision is of an ongoing project, beginning in the Fall of 2008, in which students provide the Townspeople of Manalapan with authentic, useful, and memorable information. To that effect,

we hope it can help foster a positive and lasting relationship between the High School & the Township. Our ultimate goal is to help them become two arms of the SAME community.
